Mowing

Mowing is the most misunderstood part of lawn care, and the most often incorrectly performed part of lawn care. Always start with a sharp blade. Dull blades will rip the grass and leave the wounded grass susceptible to disease. Set the mower high, by cutting the grass high, you will be promoting a deeper root system. Also, taller grass will shade the soil and not allow weed seeds to germinate.

History

My name is Peter DiClemente and I’m the third generation in the lawn care and gardening business based out of Newton, MA. My Grandfather started gardening in the 1930’s in Chestnut Hill, MA. My Father worked for him and eventually took over the business in the 1960’s. I worked for my father and took over the business in the 1990’s, the whole time remaining in the same neighborhoods of Chestnut Hill. Many of the lawns I care for today are the same lawns that my grandfather mowed 75 years ago.

Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to learn from many of my customers about organic gardening. I’ve successfully maintained many properties naturally and have been getting more and more requests for an organic approach to lawn care. I started to pay more attention to the dangers of chemicals in lawn products and the risk they pose to our children and pets. I started Pure lawns after becoming an accredited organic land care professional by the NOFA organization. With the training I have received and the resources we have available today, it is easier to achieve a beautiful landscape without the use of synthetic fertilizers & pesticides.

I hope to have the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the many benefits of switching to an all natural lawn. We’ve had great success with maintaining lush green grass without any chemicals and we hope to serve you and prove to you that an Organic lawn is achievable.
